Bedside Sleep Tracker Alternatives | Radar, Sonar, and Headband Options

    Founder, Komori Care

"Nest Hub alternative" and "SleepScore Max alternative" are different jobs. One is a $100 smart display with basic overnight sensing. The other is a dedicated sonar puck. Radar lamps, wall discs, and EEG headbands sit on nearby shelves. Pick by constraint, not by a stacked feature table.

Disclosure: I am Dovy, founder of Komori Care. Contactless bedside radar for sleep position, coming 2027, wellness only, not FDA-cleared. Komori Lite $399, Komori with base $799. One-press top button cuts sensing. Optional camera records to an encrypted SD card.

    Quick answer by job

    Budget nightstand

    • Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) (often ~$100, store.google.com): Soli radar for duration, timing, snoring, disturbances. We do not claim sleep stages — that claim was not something we could stand behind, and WIRED has noted REM/wake misses on this device. Good enough for coarse trends if you already live in Google Home.
    • SleepScore Max ($149.99 list): Dedicated sonar puck. Official SleepScore shop showed sold out in October 2026. Confirm stock before you plan around it. No heart rate.

    Bedside / wall radar

    • Sleepal AI Lamp ($399 on the Sleepal store): 60GHz radar lamp. Vendor cites RMSE under 2 for respiratory rate and 2,000+ PSG training nights.
    • Kardian Somily ($299, kardian.com/somily.html): Wall disc. Resting heart rate and breathing through bedding. Two years of Max included ($6/month thereafter, or a free tier). Pre-order when we checked — vendor said ships 15 Nov–15 Dec 2026, US only. Not "shipping now."
    • Sleepiz One+ (sleepiz.com): Care-settings radar. Supplied through providers, not a consumer checkout.

    Headbands (wearable, not contactless)

    • Muse S Athena ($474.99 MSRP, choosemuse.com): EEG + fNIRS. Meditation plus sleep tracking. Position is a secondary line.
    • Somnee (from $389 plus membership, somneesleep.com): tACS headband. Membership powers stimulation and electrode pads. Vendor lists a from-price of $389 with six months of membership included; confirm current membership after that on their site. Official site is somneesleep.com, not a third-party reseller.
    • Elemind ($399, elemindtech.com): EEG-guided bone-conduction sound. Vendor says it is for sleep onset. Sold out on some store views — check stock.

    Position timeline, contactless

    • Komori Care (coming 2027): Back/side/stomach timeline. One-press top button. Optional encrypted SD camera. Wellness only.

Under-mattress mats (Withings $199.95, OZI $199) are not bedside. They are the usual answer if you will accept something under the bed. See Withings Sleep Analyzer alternative.

    Radar vs sonar vs EEG

Radar (Nest Hub Soli, Sleepal 60GHz, Kardian, Sleepiz, Komori): nothing in the bed. Stage quality depends on the implementation. Nest Hub is the coarse one.

Sonar (SleepScore Max): nightstand ultrasound. No cardiac signal.

EEG headbands (Muse, Somnee, Elemind): you wear something. Different job — brain-signal tracking or stimulation, not a lamp.

Pressure mats: under the bed, not on this shelf.

    Nest Hub (2nd gen)

Smart display first, sleep sensing second. Duration, clock times, disturbances. Do not buy it for validated stages or position. ~$100, often on sale.

    SleepScore Max

Dedicated puck, $149.99 list, companion app is free. Availability was weak on the official shop in October 2026.

    Sleepal AI Lamp

Lamp + 60GHz radar. $399 on Sleepal's store. Vendor-claimed posture is not automatically a reliable position timeline.

    Kardian Somily

$299, two years of Max included. Wall-mounted. Heart rate and breathing, not sleep-stage labels. Pre-order window on the vendor page: mid-November to mid-December 2026.

Kardian's XK300 Essence is a separate FDA-cleared RPM product. Somily is the consumer wellness brand. Do not mix the lanes.

    Sleepiz One+

Provider-supplied, not a nightstand impulse buy. If a clinician offers it, that is a care-program decision.

    Muse, Somnee, Elemind

Wearables. Muse $474.99 MSRP for tracking/meditation. Somnee from $389 plus membership for tACS. Elemind $399 for auditory stimulation. None of these are "bedside contactless."

    Komori Care (coming 2027)

Position-first radar. Lite $399, with base $799. One-press top button cuts sensing. Optional camera to an encrypted SD card. Coming 2027. Waitlist.
