Teens are supposed to get 8–10 hours, per the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and they are also the group most likely to leave a ring on the bathroom counter. If you want a read on nights without a charging fight, contactless hardware — under the sheet, under the mattress, or on the nightstand — is the practical path.

Disclosure: I am Dovy, founder of Komori Care. Contactless bedside radar for sleep position, coming 2027, wellness only, not FDA-cleared. Komori Lite $399, Komori with base $799. One-press top button cuts sensing. Optional camera records to an encrypted SD card.

    Quick answer

    • OZI Sleep Tracker ($199): Under-sheet. Ages 5+ in the vendor's marketing, which includes teens. Multi-bed dashboard. No camera, no microphone, no subscription.
    • Withings Sleep Analyzer ($199.95): Under-mattress. JMIR 2026 home study. One sleeper per mat. Set-and-forget.
    • Sleepal AI Lamp ($399, Sleepal store): Nightstand radar lamp. Looks like a lamp, not a "monitor."
    • Komori Care (coming 2027): Camera-free position timeline. One-press top button cuts sensing.

We dropped SleepBeta from this list. That name is a 2021–2022 QUT research prototype (cards + a study web app + a Fitbit), not a product you can buy.

    Why contactless for teens

Wrist trackers and rings need charging and compliance. Under-sheet and bedside devices plug in once. Privacy is the other half: no teen wants a camera pointed at the bed. Talk through who sees the data. Covert tracking is a trust problem, not a clever setup.

    OZI Sleep Tracker

Under the fitted sheet, USB power. Stages, heart rate, breathing trends, movement. Multi-bed dashboard if you have more than one kid, or a separate login if you want the teen to own the view. $199, HSA/FSA eligible per OZI.

    Withings Sleep Analyzer

$199.95 on the US store. Under the mattress at chest level. Stages, heart rate, snoring, breathing-disturbance index. No subscription required for core data. One mat = one person — bunks and shared mattresses are a bad fit.

More: Withings US sleep pages list the mat at $199.95.

    Sleepal AI Lamp

60GHz radar in a lamp. $399 on Sleepal's US store. Vendor-claimed stages, heart rate, breathing, snoring, and posture. Physical privacy control is part of their pitch, which is useful in a teen room if it works as advertised.

    Komori Care (coming 2027)

Position timeline, not a wearable. Lite $399, with base $799. One-press top button cuts sensing — a physical off switch is easier to explain than an app permission. Optional camera to an encrypted SD card, off unless you choose it. Wellness only. Waitlist.

If the teen wants this for their sleep-position curiosity (pain, sports, stomach-sleeping), say that out loud. Parental surveillance framing kills adoption.

    The parent–teen conversation

Explain why you're asking. Show what is collected. Give them an off switch. Time-box a trial if that helps. If they say no, a consistent bedtime and a phone-free bedroom will do more than a hidden mat.

    FAQ

Do teens need a sleep tracker? No. Useful if nights are a mess and everyone wants numbers instead of guesses. Tracking does not fix a late phone.

Will they actually use a wearable? Often no. That is why this page is contactless.

Can I track without telling them? Technically, sometimes. Don't.

Is Komori shipping? No. Coming 2027. OZI or Withings for tonight.
