    Not a clinical seizure-detection claim. Wellness-pathway device.

    UVA Neurology partnership

Building toward a SUDEP feasibility pilot with Dr. Mark Quigg, MD at the University of Virginia.

Komori Care is working with Dr. Mark Quigg, MD at UVA Neurology on a SUDEP feasibility amendment now in motion at the UVA IRB. The amendment focuses on whether multimodal contactless sensing — radar, thermal, acoustic, and ambient signals — can capture nocturnal context relevant to families managing epilepsy, without cameras and without wearables.

The protocol is wellness-pathway. There are no clinical seizure-detection claims and no diagnostic intent. The goal is to learn what is measurable, what is noisy, and what is useful — in real homes, on real nights, alongside clinical ground truth.

Multi-site data is how the field moves past single-cohort confounds. We're now actively looking for sister sites at other academic medical centers with epilepsy monitoring units or sleep labs to join under aligned protocols.

Are you a clinical site running an EMU or sleep lab? We'd like to talk about becoming a sister site under aligned IRB language.

    About the founder

    Dovy Paukstys
Founder, Komori Care, LLC · Waterford, VA

Two decades in data engineering and health technology. As Senior Solution Architect at Owlet Baby Care, he built the platform that scaled the company from 1,000 to 100,000 devices. Most recently served as fractional CTO at SAMi Alert (contactless seizure monitoring) before founding Komori.

Komori grew out of his twins' premature NICU stay — the recognition that continuous home monitoring could give families clinical-grade insight without clinical-grade intrusion.
